The Black Lion Audio PM8 MKII is a high-quality summing mixer featuring an 8 channel configuration. Other summing mixers that utilise DSP can run into problems such as clock-based errors and mathematically unrelated signal artifacts, something with the PM8 MKII avoids thanks to its analog circuitry. The unit itself features transformer-coupled input and three separate master output including a passive output, transformerless output and a transformer coupled output. The PM8 MKII even features separate monitor outs for each output pair. One of the most unique features of the Black Lion PM8 MKII Summing Mixer is the grain oriented silicon steel input and output transformer, that help to add a touch of colour and warmth, generated by a small amount of low-order distortion below 250Hz.
The Black Lion Audio PM-8 MKII includes a new link features that allows you to connect multiple PM-8 MKII units together using the Tascam-standard DB25 connection. The highly robust design of the PM-8 MKII features a vintage-style aesthetic, with updated retro knobs reminiscent of older hardware. The huge ¾ Watt bus resistors provide isolation between channels while minimising the thermal noise normally found in smaller console buses. The front panel features both Master and Monitor volume controls for added flexibility, as well as a pushable Mute button on every channel as well as a 2-position On/Off switch. The rack-mountable design makes it ideal for any studio setting with a range of XLR combi inputs on the back.
"I’m using 2 of the PM8 summing mixers for the tracks from Pro Tools 8 and I’m loving the width, depth and awesome separation! I also landed two songs on the soundtrack that were also mixed through your PM8s as well as the Auteur pres!”." - Brad Nyght (Producer, Composer, Drummer)
“I installed the BLA PM-8 in my rack, wired it up, and have been on a high ever since, and I even haven’t toggled over to the other outputs yet! Just loving the “Transformer” output for the moment. I’m going to wire up another pair of cables for the alt outputs to have them ready in my patch bay for flexibility.” - George Landress Mixer/Engineer/Producer (No Doubt, Jon B, Chaka Khan, The Killers)
