All-Mahogany Body

The Luna Maluhia is constructed entirely from mahogany, which provides more treble tones and an incredibly rich, distinct warmth. The mahogany body offers more volume, a strong balance between high-end and bass, which enables this uke to retain classic ukulele tone with the voicing of a concert body. The mahogany body also delivers a focused, punchy mid-range, thick well-defined tone, and sings sweet sparkling highs. Mahogany is used a lot in the acoustic world, because it is relatively economical, durable, attractive, easy to work with, and resonant.

Mahogany Neck & Rosewood Fingerboard

Crafted from mahogany, the Maluhia's neck provides players with plenty of rich warmth, resonance, and great durability. The reason why many ukulele necks are made from mahogany is because the wood responds greatly to picking, strumming, and various finger techniques with equal ease. The neck is topped with a rosewood fingerboard that delivers a warm, bright, and sparkly tone that really shines through when using finger picking techniques. For added elegance, the rosewood fingerboard is sprinkled with pearl dots.

Concert Cutaway Body Shape

The Luna Maluhia features a concert body shape, which produces rich and clear sound. This stunning concert uke has 20 frets and has become the choice of preference for ukulele soloists due to its extended range. Its concert shape enables players to perform more technical skills, whilst maintaining classic ukulele tone. The Luna Maluhia's concert shape is slightly larger than standard soprano size and provides more volume due to more room for sound to vibrate around the body.

Luna Preamp

The Luna Maluhia comes equipped with one of Luna's own preamps, which offers basic sound tweaking for live and rehearsal environments. The preamp features slider switches for bass, presence and volume, enabling players to tweak their tone to personal preference. The Luna Look

The aptly named Maluhia from Luna certainly represents the vibe of this spiritual ukulele, as well as embodying Luna's philosophy that they hold dear. Laser-etched into the ukulele top is the world 'peace' in over 20 different languages which swirl beautifully around the concert shaped body. Maluhia is the Hawaiian word for peace, and with its peace sign shaped soundhole, along with the stunning art work by Alex Morgan, this mindful uke certainly lives up to its name.

Luna History

Yvonne Villiers is an accomplished stained-glass artist who envisioned Luna guitars. Her inspiration for a line of guitars designed to maximise playing comfort came from her mother, Hilda Villiers, a bassist for over 40 years. Whilst watching her mum on stage, Yvonne couldn't help but notice the massive struggle her mum had whilst playing. With her mum being petite and using such a heavy instrument, she used to complain of how hard it was to be a woman and try to play these big bass guitars.

Yvonne then questioned if there were others like her mum that struggled with the same problems and pains. She came up with the idea of a woman specific guitar, uniquely tailored to fit their bodies, their hands, and their musical styles. Yvonne moved on to created Luna guitars, a line of guitars made for female musicians of all ages and crafted with luminous visual beauty to engage women's minds and spirits along with their talent.

Yvonne already had brilliant artistic skills and use of colour, she then applied the same techniques as she did with her award winning stained glass work to her new line of guitars. She is known for using rich colours that shimmer and shine with every movement providing an eye-catching design along with the great musical tones Luna guitars deliver. Yvonne's design expertise has led so many men to respond to Luna's well-crafted, spirit-engaging instruments that the company now creates guitars for both female and male musicians of all ages.
