Key Features
Truly top of the range. The Jackson Audio Asabi Mateus Asato Overdrive Distortion offers the full dirt spectrum from its ingenious modular design. The core tone was built around the classic plexi amp drives, but the Asabi is granted true versatility thanks to its Modern High-Gain module. This allows you to go from subtle, creamy drive to full blown, ferociously gritty distortion at the push of a button.
This comprehensive spectrum is enhanced by the parametric 3-band EQ which gives you total sonic control. It is completed with the internal trim pots, which even let you alter the frequency and Q of each band making this fully-parametric. The modular design means you can quickly swap out the distortion module for something more suited to taste, if required, but chances are you'll be blown away by the sonic bliss and sheer functionality the Asabi offers.

Gain stack with a single pedal. The Jackson Audio Asabi Mateus Asato Overdrive Distortion offers incredible versatility and tone shaping options to go from exceptionally pure drive to crushingly thick, high-gain distortion. The overdrive and distortion sections are treated separately to preserve the tonal integrity of each, which helps them blend in a more satisfying way.
The overdrive channel is a plexi-style drive circuit featuring soft-clipping with touch sensitive dynamic response. The type of drive that simply lifts your sound and elevates your playing without you having to do much. Soft clipping generates even order harmonics which are pleasant-sounding as they are just octaves and fifths of your root frequency. This creates harmonious overdrive as your first gain stage that also stacks beautifully with the heavier stages.
Jackson gave the Asabi true sonic versatility by allowing the clipping style to be switchable. Swap between 'Symmetrical', 'Asymmetrical', 'Vintage Marshall', and 'Classic Screamer'. The two main distortion factors are clipping and gain, not satisfied with allowing you to customise one, Jackson also added a Gain Cycle. This radical design feature takes the Gain knob and divides it into four equal parts, which become gain stages to cycle through by pressing both footswitches simultaneously. Gain stacking has never been easier, literally!
Jackson's signature level-matching circuitry is retained here which ensures that no matter how much gain you add, or which clipping style is active, the output volume of the pedal remains the same. This also helps to optimise your dirt tones on differing setups and guarantees the Asabi will instantly fit seamlessly into any pedalboard.
Consider extensive MIDI control over Clipping Styles, Gain-Cycle options, Drive EQ options as well as ON/OFF of the Overdrive and Drive circuits and the Asabi stakes a big claim for being the most powerful and comprehensive analogue drive pedal ever devised.
