iRig are renowned for reinventing traditionally large accessories into mobile, practical designs. The iRig Acoustic follows this attitude by transferring all the necessary components for a guitar microphone and interface, and puts it into one 20 gram device. The installation method is a simple clip onto your guitar’s sound-hole rim and plugging into your device - that’s it.
The simplicity means it is able to not only go on your acoustic steel string, but also your classical and ukulele too. The iRig Acoustic is easily available to be taken to gigs, rehearsals, or even just to be kept on your person for spontaneous moments of creativity.
IK Multimedia have equipped the iRig Acoustic with a MEMS (MicroElectrical-Mechanical System) microphone. The advantages of these are that they have a great audio capture, whilst being very small and light. They’re also resistant to the unwanted sounds caused by mechanical vibrations, making them excellent for picking up your strings’ main tones.
Where magnetic pickups simply pick up your guitar’s string vibrations, the iRig Acoustic also captures the actual sound produced, giving a clear representation of your guitar’s individual tone and harmonics. The result is a studio quality condenser microphone, only closer and more intimate to the sound you produce.
