Key Features
The Benchmark DAC1 HDR digital-to-analogue audio converter offers two channels of reference-quality, 192kHz 24-bit audio with maximum transparency and a remote control function. Packed into a compact, rugged enclosure finished in Silver are Benchmark's UltraLock and AdvancedUSB Audio technologies, and Benchmark's HPA2 headphone power amplifier.
Product Ref: 39491
The DAC1 HDR features Benchmark's Ultralock™ technology, which removes virtually all jitter on any digital input signal. It accepts any input frequency between 24 and 195kHz and is fully compatible with variable-pitch applications.
AdvancedUSB Audio™ technology supports 24-bit audio at up to 96kHz, and transfers every sample of digital audio from the computer to the DAC1 HDR without modification. Compatible with Windows 7/Vista/XP/2000 and Max OS X, it is a true plug-and-play device that works without any need for drivers or software.
The HPA2™ headphone power amplifier is capable of driving a wide variety of headphone loads with less than 0.0003% distortion under load. It drives the DAC1 HDR's two 1/4" headphone jacks. The gain control sets the output level of the headphone jacks, and also controls the output level of the balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA analogue outputs.
The remote control is built around Benchmark's HDR-VC™ High Dynamic Range Volume Control. Using a custom-built motorised Alps potentiometer this maintains the dynamic range of the converter and audio output. It includes Dim and Soft-Mute functions: the Dim setting lets you easily lower the volume to a preset level, and the Soft-Mute function fades down the volume to the Dim setting before muting, and smoothly raises the volume back to normal after unmuting.
