The Vintage Fuzz pedal from Orange Amps takes its inspiration from the old Foxx Tone Machine from the 1970s, offering an enhanced version of the sought-after fuzz tone. The Orange pedal’s fuzz works well with both clean and overdriven amps, creating incredible fuzz sounds to a unique, thick ‘fur coat’. The pedal can also be powered with 9V or 12V, allowing players to add more headroom and output volume for times when extra dynamics are needed. Its low power consumption also provides a long battery life, letting players enjoy the incredibly vintage fuzz in any setting.
A unique addition to the Fur Coat pedal was an adjustable octave up function, allowing players to turn down the octave from being flat-out and dial in the perfect amount for any situation. The octave can also be dialled in using the guitar’s volume, providing excellent versatility and enhancing anyone’s performance. The engineers at Orange also removed the pedal's DC offset to provide an instant engagement or disengagement of the octave up.
Unlike other pedals Orange have created, the vintage fuzz is their only true bypass pedal. The reason behind this is the engineers at Orange felt the fuzz works best without a buffer placed in front, as passive pickups of a guitar are part of its circuitry. Equipping it with true bypass results in the fuzz sounding less like a distortion and allowing the octaves to sound organic.
