Constructed from a Mahogany body with set-in Mahogany neck the Eric Soul Z has a medium weight and produces a warm and balanced tone with plenty of bite and grit thanks to the dense nature of the wood. Additionally the V shaped Mahogany neck provides a smooth playability with plenty of definition in the lower mid-range.
Featuring high output active EMG 81 and 85 humbucking pickups the Eric Peterson Soul Z delivers a sharp attack and a beefy rhythm tones when in the 81 bridge position and a warm and dynamic tonality when in the 85 neck position. EMG pickups are a first choice for many professional musicians such as James Hetfield (Metallica), Zakk Wylde (Ozzy Osbourne/Black Label Society) and Matt Tuck (Bullet For My Valentine) as they provide incredible tone, reliable active circuitry and low noise.
The Soul Z incorporates a string-thru body construction to provide improved tonality and sustain by transferring vibrations and resonance from the string to the body as it goes over the tune-o-matic bridge and passes through the body.
Eric Peterson was born in 1964 and has since become an extremely influential guitar player in the trash metal world thanks to his rhythm playing for band Testament. Having spent over 32 years in the touring and writing music, Testament have sold over 1.4 million albums and are considered to be one of the most popular bands of the 1980s thrash metal music scene. Although favouring Gibson guitars for many years Eric recently gained an endorsement with Dean Guitars and has since released a range of signature models.
