Create and capture live music with touchscreen editing
Standing out from the crowd, the R12 is jam-packed with useful tools, onboard percussion and even built-in synths that lets you take your performances/recordings to the next level. Starting off with two pristine preamps, the dual XLR/TRS inputs can be used to process studio-grade microphones (complete with onboard Phantom Power) as well as instruments. Whether you’re recording a demo or want to create a full song, the Zoom R12 gives you everything you need to achieve your creative goals.
One of the most unique features of the R12 is ‘Sequence Play’. This function allows you to create a playlist of your projects, which then can be used as backing tracks during live performances. The intuitive full-colour LCD touchscreen makes it easy to edit, cut, loop and arrange your tracks. The streamlined layout makes it easy to navigate between settings and parameters. You can also import your own samples using via a micro SD card or a USB thumb drive.
Built-in drum loops and FM synths
Taking it a step further than your standard multitrack recorder, the Zoom R12 can be used to enhance your recordings and take them to the next level. Pre-loaded with 150 varied drum loops, the genre-defying percussion section allows you to create rhythms on the fly for any project. Not only that, but the R12 also features 18 built-in FM synth instruments. Spanning everything from synth leads to brass instruments, the FM synths allow you to capture your inspiration when it strikes.
Integrated audio interface and customisable click track
From the stage to the studio, the Zoom R12 is ready for anything. Featuring a built-in stereo audio interface, the R12 can be used to create music using your favourite DAW (digital audio workstation). The versatile design means it can also be used for live-streaming and podcasting via USB-C connectivity. It can also be used as a control surface, using the transport controls and faders to control your music software’s parameters. It also comes equipped with a Hi-Z input which allows you to plug a guitar directly into the recorder.
Ensuring you stay in time can be difficult when it comes to using backing tracks and more. The Zoom R12 features an onboard, customisable click track that can be activated at the press of a button. The click balance control allows you to set the volume of the metronome in regards to your playback audio, which is then routed from the headphone jack and/or the main outputs.
Portable design with variety of connections
The R12’s compact size can easily be carried from place to place and is small enough to carry with just one hand. Providing up to 5 hours of battery life, the Zoom R12 can be powered by 4 x AA batteries. For longer sessions, the R12 comes complete with an AD-17 power adapter, or it can be powered via a USB battery. Monitoring your sounds is made easy thanks to the inclusion of both a 1/8-inch stereo headphone jack and dedicated 1/4-inch monitor outputs.
