The Pearl Competitor 22'' x 14'' Marching Bass Drum utilises a high-quality mahogany shell, constructed with Pearl’s Secure Shell Technology (SST) for optimised tonal characteristics with superior sonic qualities. The mahogany shell features a loosely packed cellulose structure, offering enhanced low to mid frequencies with tremendous power and sustain. The shells are complemented by 1.5" 6-ply, high gloss black maple hoops, secured by extra wide claws for an accurate and consistently tuned sound throughout your drumming sessions. With die-cast lugs for increased durability, the Pearl Competitor Bass Drums are designed for years of heavy duty use. The drums also feature a 45-degree bearing edge for ultimate projection and volume, perfect for achieving a truly strident sound to be heard throughout the band.

Superior Shell Technology

Pearl have also implemented their Superior Shell Technology, using a proprietary technique to create the most efficient air chamber possible. Each wood has been chosen due to its acoustic properties and crafted using advanced construction methods to achieve an air-tight fit. Every wood ply is saturated with Pearl's 'AcoustiGlue' which dries to the exact consistency of the wood for maximum resonance. The plies are finally formed in high-temperature moulds under extreme pressure to produce shells which support the perfect balance between strength, exceptional tonal warmth, and remarkable resonance.
